Teacher's Notebook Anyone?

This is to you, all 18 of my blessed followers. I need some perspective. I am considering two things.

One- Heather over at The Wild Rumpus has me thinking about a custom blog design...I say thinking, I have basically decided to ante up the cash and do it. My homemade version just isn't cutting the mustard, ya know? Thoughts? I contacted Megan, who did her cutie patootie design. I have two in mind.

Two-The next big step is to open a Teacher's Notebook Store. I feel like I am doing all of this work to create my resources in a TpT format, why not also upload to Teacher's Notebook. Anyone out there doing one, the other, or both? I am wondering if any pitfalls await me. Or if you have any tips to ease the start-up.

Toodles from your teacher friend,
Brandi

  1. Hi Brandi, thanks for following my blog.

If you want a cute and free blog design, head over to leelou blogs and search the free templates. That's where mine came from and I think it's cute! You can find the link on my blog or do a google search.

OPEN A STORE!!! You won't regret it. It's not that difficult and I'm sure you preach have stuff saved on your computer that could start you out. I have made quite a bit of money in each of the last 2 quarters! I am lad I created a store nd I add to it lost weekly!

Hopefully we will be blog buddies!

  2. I am also contemplating a new blog design, but they are pricey! I will have to check out leelou blogs as well. As far as the stores, I've seen many people that have both. I guess that it just depends on how much time you want to invest uploading and creating listings.

  3. I am looking at these. Heather at The Wild Rumpus used her and she looks pretty reasonable. She is also a teacher. I follow her teaching blog, I Teach, What's Your Superpower?

I am not sure if the prices are about the standard though. I will look into Leelou blogs too. Thanks for the tip.

  4. Brandi, Christi Fultz from Design my Christi did my blog makeover this past summer. She is affordable and easy to work with. You can find her here: http://designbychristi.blogspot.com/. She has a great porfolio, go over and check her out! Tell her I sent you! I'm thinking of opening a TN store as well. Good luck!

  5. Hello Brandi,
There are many perks to having a shop on TeachersNotebook. Here are a few: If a sale is made through PalPal you get paid 100% (munis Paypal fees) the moment the sale completes. If a sale is made with a credit card you get paid 100% (minus fees) and gets paid to shops every two weeks. The home Resources page displays items recently added . This helps everyone share in a fair way.
    Regards,
    Debbie

  6. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't do teachers notebook. While it is nice that you get the money that day if they use pay pal, once they added credit cards most people started using those. I don't get much traffic there. I make in a month there what I make in a couple days at TPT. When they had less fees than TPT there was more traffic but once the fees were the same, it stopped. I think some people used to buy at tn to be nice to the seller and get them more money. Just my opinion.

  7. Just browsing your blog and came to this one- not sure if you ever decided to do TN- I would say if you don't mind doing a little extra work, just do it. You pay a one time store fee (instead of yearly like TPT) and although you don't make as much over there as Mercedes said, you still make SOMETHING. My aggravation over there is that you have to make your own picture files, instead of generating thumbnails like TPT does... but that's my two cents. :)

  8. Hey Jessica (I really wanna call you Jess, like my other pal of the same name!! Is that weird? lol!)- I went ahead and took the plunge. I am also really annoyed by the picture files thing since I haven't gotten very good at all at converting things to pictures, so mine look crumby. I like that you only pay once. It was a reasonable price too. I figured if I was going to all of the trouble, I might as well upload it twice. I have not been good at this though because of the picture files. Maybe they will fix this soon...Anyway, thanks for the comments. They really make my day. I saw that I have 34 more followers that when I wrote this. Sheesh!
